How to Get a High Paying “Stepping Stone” Job that’s Fully Remote, and in a Great Working Environment

To many people, this may sound like a dream. 🙂 You could have been a VA (Virtual Assistant), Project Manager, or OBM (Online Business Manager) for a very long time, or someone working in corporate, and you’re JUST TIRED of trying to make it work.

There’s a lot of things that, if they just clicked, you would have the dream job that can provide for your family, give you great purpose, lets you meet other growth-focused workmates, and most of all, something that is stable and secure for years to come.

In the Philippines, a “good enough” income is a six figure monthly salary in pesos. With P100,000 a month, most likely you’ll be pretty comfortable especially in a dual income household. With proper budgeting, it’s very likely that you can live in a safe neighborhood, send 2-3 kids to school, and go on yearly vacations.

Not a lot of people JUMP to that salary. And honestly, it’s still hard for some people, even if they’ve worked A DECADE in call centers or through remote jobs like OnlineJobs or Upwork, to get a salary like that on a regular and secure basis. Trust me, I personally know people who jump from one job to another, still on an hourly salary, because even though they’re good, they just don’t get that stability or they don’t find companies that are a pleasant working environment.

Well — the good news is, we’ve figured out a way to get you the right mix of help for this. If you want to skip to that, you can check this out. (We only accept up to 15 candidates per quarter.)

But first, let us give you the goods. Here’s how you can get that DREAM JOB that pays at least 75000 pesos a month (to start!), with the other benefits of working for an awesome workplace.

  1. Invest in how your resume/ CV looks. Keep it clean, minimalist, stylish, free of error. Check for grammar, hire a professional designer to make it, and present it like you would present a very important bidding document. Because hey, that’s exactly the energy of winning that we need here.
  2. Highlight the right things. Look at the job description and edit your resume according to what will be the best match according to the announcement for hiring. Of course, do not include false information or misconstrue context.
  3. Be specific. Here’s another way to surely stand out. (To be honest, this is one of the key needle movers that our consultants help with you start working with us. We go in depth about your past experience and verify this, then present it in a way that makes you look like a rockstar.) Determine the definite changes and successes in your past craeers and highlight numbers, impact, and growth benefits.
  4. Get interview coaching. So many smart, well experienced people fail during the interview. They’re nervous, they’re shy that their English may not be perfect, and they are not used to Western-style communication. To top that off, you are literally trying to sell the idea of working with you. Having to rememeber all of this could be daunting. Train well for it and practice! It’s hard to live down the regrets of doing an interview badly when you knew you could have been truly amazing at the job. At Proximity Placements Remote Rockstars coaching, we pair you up with a high level manager that has recruited people of all levels.
  5. Get casual English speaking coaching. Note that the best opportunities you get will most likely be coming from clients in US, Canada, UK, or Australia (highest paying remote opportunities). You need to appeal to them in such a way that you communicate “their way”. This is exactly the reason why we do mock interviews only with US based recruiters. They will tell you EXACTLY what to say and train you to be more casual and more relaxed. Tons of call center agents speak good english but they are “too formal” and they don’t build enough rapport during the interview. Lacking this rapport is one of the main reasons that someone can rank low in the interview score.
  6. Research about the company that you’re applying for, and zoom in on the department that your role is in. For example, if you are hired as customer support for an e-commerce company, look at what else they’re doing for client success, retention, and upsells. You will impress the interviewer in a much, much, higher level when you do this.
  7. Ask meaningful questions. Another way to stand out is to ask meaningful questions. Questions that matter to the job that other applicants may have missed because they’re too busy memorizing cookie cutter answers. Make sure to listen intently to their answers, they will give away what is the most important for them. (There’s a special formula for this that we share on our coaching, too!)
  8. Follow up persuasively. Sometimes they’re hiring more than one person and they won’t tell you. Sometimes you may be a good culture fit but there is no opening right now but there could be one next month. Sometimes it doesn’t work out with their best candidate. You want to leave a good impression, still. Follow up persuasively, understand what problems they’re trying to solve and what their goals are and see how you can help. Templates and concierge service available at our coaching program. ChatGPT is too basic for this. 😉

After remembering all of these, the other missing piece would be to know where to find these opportunities. There are definitely ways to get them, where you are not competing with 100 other Filipinos, and then it turns into a price war. You do not want to go for a low salary just to get a gig, and you do not want the pressure of too much competition.

What’s more, you wanna land with a good client. A great and inspiring boss. A wonderful working environment. Benefits. Paid time off. Lots of growth. You need to be looking out for yourself and your mental health not just the pay. There is a way to do this, in fact, my company, Proximity Outsourcing, strives to be a place like this. 🙂

If you’re interested, the coaching program will deliver these leads on a platter, and will guide you through your application. Now, if you’re keen to do this all on your own, that’s OK too! Make sure you report back with the results.

It’s an honor to be able to guide you through this. 🙂
