Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis, A Beauty Lair

Most Mondays don’t start with a 3-hour hair cut, treatment and color appointment. But just last Monday, mine did. And it was amazing.^

For that session, I went to Hair Philosophie by Jing Monis. They’re located at 2F Abreeza Corporate Center. I just told my stylist to “Surprise me” and here’s the result!

I was feeling ecstatic upon seeing my new hair color! Hair Philosophie, you are a hair fairy. ??They treated me to their famous Macadamia treatment and had my hair dyed in medium browns and a whisper of burgundy. ✨ What I liked the most about Hair Philosophie is that they’d walk you through what your hair really needs, and they’re going to ask you what you think of their plans for your hair. For me, that’s really important because the salon needs to know what your preferences are and what your current lifestyle is like.

The day before my appointment, I got the pleasure of meeting Jing Monis in person. He was really warm and friendly, and he welcomed all my kikay hair questions.

Takeaways:

Q: Is it true that you need to alternate the water temperature when you wash your hair? Like lukewarm when washing, and cold when you rinse your conditioner?

A: Actually, yes, that’s the ideal situation. Lukewarm is best for washing because it makes your scalp softer and opens up your pores a bit. Then rinse with cold water because it seals the moisture in and helps tame frizziness. Also, if you can, you can skip shampooing maybe 1-2 times a week.

Q: What hair trend do you currently dislike?

A: I don’t like half top buns. I don’t like them because they don’t fit all face shapes. And if they’re doing it because it’s hot, it also defeats the purpose.

Q: What hair ingredient do we need to look out for, in hair products?

A: Basically, if it has sulfates, leave it. Some hair products also claim to be non comedogenic, paraben-free, silicon-free and whatever, but sometimes we need some of these to preserve the product. And the hair is not as sensitive as, like, facial skin for example. So those words aren’t really a huge plus. But they’re nice to have.

Overall, you could see I had a great time at Hair Philosophie. Definitely telling my friends about it, especially my stylist, Rich Chua. 🙂 Hope you loved and learned something from this blog entry. If you have more hair care offers and concerns, email me at [email protected] Cheers to good hair days!
