For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved writing. And I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Tell me how nice my hair is and I’ll whisper a “thank you”. Delight in the beauty of my nails, my bag or my debate achievements and I will smile at you and tell you that it wasn’t an easy feat. But do this: pay me a compliment on my poetry. Or this creative nonfiction I made. Or a funny status message (originals, ehem). And I will sparkle. In front of you. I don’t care how many people are looking. Just kidding, I only contain a quarter of the awesomeness I’m trying to portray here.
Anyway, that’s not the point. Now that I’ve established how passionate I am about the written word, I felt that those who have just started to come out of their shells should be rewarded. Hence, I’m joining the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2013 writing project.
Now on its 7th year, the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs writing project aims to recognize new blogs and newbie bloggers so they will… well, keep blogging. The mechanics are easy. If you want to take part of this project, click this link and follow steps religiously. There, you will find the mechanics about who can nominate, which blogs are qualified for nomination, raffle entries, format guides, et cetera.
Here are my picks to join this year’s Top 10:
Writing Detours – A quirky, funny, tell-it-like-it-is blog by twentysomething journalist Jesse Boga. This blog is his online diary about his life in Vietnam. He moved there last April and has been writing about his journey ever since. On a scale of 1 to Buwan ng Wika, this blog is wonderfully Filipino.
Barako Newsline – Even though it sounds like your sidewalk tabloid, it certainly passes as a reliable all-in-one blog covering stories that range from music, entertainment, movies, TV, gaming, events and others. According to the recommendations sheet, this site boasts of at least 500 views per day despite its newness. I’m not surprised; it’s content-packed with average posts of 2 per day!
The Fluffy.me – A personal blog owned by gaming and tech genius Arjay Legere, this one stands out as an honest guide about whatever’s up-and-coming in his radar. Most of the stories are about his home city, Davao city, and his insightful anecdotes about being a student, a yuppie, a blogger and a babyfaced adult.
Online Jobs Lifestyle – This blog is an informative guide about everything that involves the online job lifestyle. Those who have online jobs will truly find this website useful as it features articles that tackle career advice, industry evaluation and (wait for it!) FREE TRAININGS!
ELYmentary Kid – I just discovered this site today and I feel sorry for stumbling on its pages, being awake and tired at 1AM. I know I would enjoy his content more when I’m well-rested. Mental note: check it out again tomorrow, sans eyebags. ELYmentary kid is a personal blog of a twentysomething computer science graduate who’s now into multimedia arts and finding his way through the natural pains and delights of being a young adult in the Philippines.
That’s it for my votes. I tried to come up with 10 but I really had a hard time making sure they fit the mechanics seamlessly! To all these blogs, good luck and may you fill the INNERNETZ with killer content. 🙂 Here’s a some love and good vibes to all of you! xoxoxo
