Royal Mandaya’s Lantawan Hall went fab and glam with shades of purple last March 9, 2013 for JCI Duwaling’s 3rd Induction and Turnover Ceremony.
This special affair, hosted and organized by the women of JCI Duwaling, received more than a hundred guests for their dinner party, followed by the “fellowship”. The event’s highlights were the induction and presentation of the chapter’s Board of Directors, Twinning with JCI Makati, induction of new members and the Senate Investiture.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) is an international group of young leaders and entrepreneurs who are actively taking on advocacies that help uplift communities. Duwaling, JCI’s just-revived all-female chapter, coined its name from two of Davao’s best: the Durian and Waling-waling. This remarkable chapter went “dormant” for 10 years but it was taken over November of last year by its revival team, led by President Irelan “Lani” Abapo.
In 5 months, the chapter is proud to announce that they have spearheaded many worthwhile projects that covered the advocacies that Duwaling support. These activities include HIV & AIDS Awareness Forums, Violence Against Women and Children Forums, Beyond Prison Walls Livelihood Projects for Women, Liter of Light and the Youth Leadership Efficiency Award (YLEA).
There’s more to come for JCI Duwaling. Congratulations to the current BOD and more power to everyone!
