Ever since the day we started trying to get out that “Nobody nobody but you” song in our heads, we have grown to love the Korean culture. The kids are taking on Korean fashion as if it’s the most awesome thing since smartphones, Koreanovelas won our hearts fast and Korean food made its way to our palates in just a few weeks.
Today, when we hear the word “Gang-Nam”, we automatically think of PSY, the chubby Korean rapper who dominated Youtube with his worldwide pop hit “Oppa Gangnam Style”. This comes to us as no surprise; after all, his 1 billion views on Youtube is not a lie. Aside from PSY, though, “Gang-nam” also is a district South Korea where the first Bulgogi Brothers resto, now a well-love Filipino dining place, was also founded. And yes, there goes another wave of Korean lovin’ for Mindanao because Bulgogi Brothers just opened their first Mindanao Branch in SM Lanang Premier.
With over 38 stores in South Korea to its first international branch in Manila, Bulgogi Brothers easily won the Filipino taste. Today, they have 4 other branches: Alabang, SM MOA, Subic and Greenbelt. This Davao branch just got me loving more Korean.
The Bulgogi Brothers Davao branch comfortably seats 80 people. As soon as you sit down, you will be served complimentary Korean side dishes such as sweet potatoes, vegetables, corn and *drumroll* Kimchi. I also love their complimentary corn tea, which is just perfect after a hearty meal of steaks and potatoes (or, well, your choice of carbs).
If you ask me what my top meat picks from their menu are, they’re Unyang (classic patties), Gwang-Yang (seasoned beef with sweet sauce) and Seoul (sliced beef with vegetables, fruits, onion and soy sauce). These are all cooked right at your table, so these marinated prime meat cuts can be as tender, tasty and juicy as you please.
I also loved their Dubu Steak, which was actually fried crispy tofu with a few beef strips, teriyaki sauce and bean sprout. My, as a hardcore carnivore, I’d have to bow down to Bulgogi Brothers for this. The tofu even tasted like soft white cheese!
After a filling meal, you can cap off your lunch or dinner with their wide range of wines, Soju, fresh fruit juices or Korean ice cream.
Here are some pics of their drool-worthy Korean food:
