A few years ago, good investments for me would mean the best gadgets. I would convince myself that I need a really good laptop (because I am a writer and a freelance PR professional), a nice phone (it’s part of power dressing) and other gadgets to make my life easier. But I was lucky coz that time, when I had enough savings, I bought a well-performing laptop and an equally awesome phone. That was 2 years ago. Never had problems with the laptop. The phone, well, I left it in a cab.
Anyway, today, I think I really matured well because good investments now mean furniture. My ex and I used to save for a nice bed, a nice air cooler, appliances and other nice “home stuff”. When we got them, it’s like we were washed with a new wave of love for each other. We would look at them, look at each other, sigh, and bask in the glory of a perfect relationship. But only for a few days. See, that’s the power of new furniture. LOL. (When we split up, we split them up too, of course.) Today, I am still craving for nice furniture to grace a home I can call my own—lover or no lover.
And so BLIMS Davao opened. And boy, was I glad! BLIMS, as most of you may know, is a high end furniture retailer and they just opened their first branch in Mindanao. It’s known as the “premier source of top-of-the-line furniture pieces and accessories designed to exude elegance, luxury and distinction”. Boasting of 35 years of having the best selection of internationally-acclaimed products, BLIMS delights their fans in Mindanao by opening their Abreeza branch. Now they don’t have to go to Manila or order online and wait several days for shipping!
“We have the world’s best-selling recliner – La-Z-Boy, the innovative designs of Cellini furniture, and the stylish pieces of Maestro sofa, and we continue to search for products to include in our ever-growing portfolio of global furniture brands that will be made available to Filipinos. High-end furniture is hard to find, especially if you are not living in Metro Manila. To get your dream sofa or La-Z-Boy recliner, you really have to get a good designer who can customize it for you and don’t forget about using a slipcover for your recliner, you can extend their lives by a many years if you are vigilant. Fortunately, Davao customers with exquisite tastes need not scour the entire Mindanao or import items from Metro Manila just to get luxurious furniture,” Development Manager, Sam Gregory Lim, explained.
From the opening event press con, I heard BLIMS is also eyeing Cagayan de Oro as their next stop. Isn’t that just exciting? Mindanao is really moving forward faster than all of us ever thought it would.
So hooray for BLIMS and Mindanao. As for me, I can only think of one thing right now: I would love to end up with a La-Z-Boy someday. I can imagine myself reading my books in that leathery piece of love. So yes, a La-Z-Boy! Lover or no lover. I mean, I wouldn’t mind ending up with this cat instead:
