Two years ago, when I was working as a full time writer, I went to work with a shirt, jeans and the comfiest pair of slippers ever to tread the earth. I remember coming to work all laid-back and ready to squeeze creative juice out of my brain. I felt lucky; I was doing a job I love, earning more than most of my peers, and to top it off, I had a very comfy time in the office. The best days include Snickers for breakfast. And rhum and poker for dinner. But oh well, I am straying off line.
Today, I work in the events and PR industry. I plan, conceptualize and organize corporate and private events, PR Campaigns and do marketing for various clients. Needless to say, I can’t come to work in my shirt-jeans-and-slippers outfit. Sometimes, when I face my closet in the morning, looking for what to wear, I still get dazed. Why, those dresses and girly blouses are taking over my once-bland wardrobe. I have been looking here lately for some inexpensive fitted wardrobes in London, and have found some really lovely dresses.
For this, I have found a steady excuse to keep expanding my apparel collection and head to the malls for new additions. One of the brands that I really love is Dorothy Perkins. Chic, corporate-friendly and figure hugging. Thank God they finally arrived in Davao! They just released their Autumn/ Winter 2012 Collection and boy, ain’t I glad. Here are the available “genres”:
Rock Luxe; is glam with an edge. Leather looks, fur, chiffon, brocade and shimmer are key. A palette of black, winter white and saturated darks and metallics keep this collection dramatic.
Charlie Girl; is a casual heritage trend that mixes tweed and denim with printed silky satins in blush, cream and chocolate shades. Animal motifs from birds to horses keep the collection fun and playful.
Mademoiselle; epitomises Parisian chic and is elegant with cute details. Nude tones are set against black, while texture can be found in faux fur, bouclé and chiffon. The ultimate new season silhouettes are prom, lampshade and peplum.
I took a look at their collection and found these as my top picks:
Nothing sexier than black lace. Always. Always.
Very Jenny Humphrey. Sometimes I re-watch Gossip Girl episodes just to remember what she wore.
Love the necklace! Still very Jenny Humphrey.
This. Because I can fake that I lost weight.
For that special dinner date. (I wonder when that’s happening?)
So bust your banks and credit cards and head to the Dorothy Perkins store in Abreeza! So far, I only got a bag. Still saving up for one of these dream pieces. Sigh. 🙂
