If you ask the fresh graduates what their intended college course is, a few would talk about the courses offered by JoBS Academy. In this school, there’s no Commerce, Nursing, Engineering , Psychology or Political Science. However, JoBS Acacemy offers courses which are related to creative communications and arts; and most of these courses are in demand not just abroad but here in the Philippines as well. (Note that many Philippine based companies are also foreign-founded, and they require many Art- and Marketing-related supermen.)
To start off, JoBS Academy prides themselves in being “the leading service provider for cutting edge education, training and creative equipment”. They’re “preparing today’s generation to be globally competitive at the cornerstone of technology through skills enhancement and by providing avenues to excel and be on top of the market”. In short, if you’re cool, you’ll probably study here. Hehe. Just kidding.
However, because I’m cooler than you, I visited JoBS over a year ago; when it first opened its doors to the too-enthusiastic Davao youth. I remembered JoBS as the school with the best equipment for Visual Graphic Design and Animation training. I’ve been to animation studios in Makati and in other key cities in Manila. I’ve also worked with Cube Pixels Design Studio, the biggest design outfit in Visayas-Mindanao, for almost 2 years. With JoBS’ equipment, I must say, it didn’t fall short of amazing. Had my colleagues trained in JoBS before they hit the corporate waves, we’d be ruling the world with our design awesomeness! Haha!
Another thing that caught my eye was JoBS Academy’s Events Management course. As most of you know, I devote most of my time conceptualizing, planning, executing and evaluating events. I did weddings, concerts, club parties, press launches (and press lunches), branch openings, kiddie parties, charity events and even speed dating events. Most of my events knowledge came from research, experience or simply common sense. Despite being in the industry for 4 years, I still say I can use a little help from a school such as JoBS. For their events management program, JoBS Academy sharpens common sense, ties it with management theories and polishes it with style. Voila! A JoBS academy diploma, some good looks and great personal marketing…and clients will be calling you 24/7. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. (Or the anemic.)
A few weeks ago, I just learned that JoBS Academy is offering a 4-year business course: Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At first I was skeptic about it. However, I realized later on that if CHED gave them the permit to issue diplomas in BSBA, why wouldn’t I trust them? LOL, okay I’m sure that won’t convince you enough. So here’s what really convinced ME: they employ contemporary methods of teaching that encourages the students to learn more and participate in realistic and relevant business cases rather than listen to a balete-old doctorate-laden professor who tackles cases from San Miguel Corporation, 1960s. (Whew, I kinda ran out of breath saying that sentence.) Their major teacher requirement was experience, not diplomas. Their books are smaller and lighter; just to cover the basics. They encourage going out of the classroom for real-life exposure; and not rely on its four corners for skill transfer. JoBS Academy, where were you when I was finishing college and was still enthusiastic about business education? Sigh.
Truly, education at JoBS Academy is world-class. For those who are still thinking about where to go for college, please consider this school. It’s truly worth not just your time, money and effort, it’s worth your college life!
PS There’s a coffee shop INSIDE the campus too. And Wi-Fi for everyone. Beat that!
